Here in NZ, 37 children each year are hospitalised due to a near drowning and in Australia, drowning is the number one cause of accidental death for children aged 0-4.
Little Sparrow Morris, who was only 1 year old when she fell into the pool, was without oxygen for 45 minutes. The accident left her severely brain damaged.
But a year after her almost fatal accident, Sparrow was treated with her stored cord blood and has made an amazing recovery.
